Fashion: Natural & Cruelty-Free Waterproof Makeup

Everyone wants to look good on the beach, and I'm no exception. However, looking effortless and casually chic on the beach is hard work. My pre-beach vacation to-do list was a mile long...get in shape, eat right, go swimsuit shopping, get a mani/pedi and on and on. The last thing on my list was to get waterproof makeup, and by waterproof makeup I don't mean having a smoky eye on the beach, that wouldn't look effortless or casually chic. I just wanted some minimal makeup that would withstand the heat, humidity, and some splashing.

However, most waterproof makeup is not natural or cruelty-free. I wanted to look good on the beach, but still maintain my values. Also, I didn't want to spend a fortune buying waterproof makeup that I would only use for a few days. I found a healthy balance of affordable, natural and cruelty-free makeup with the following products which helped me create a natural, effortless, and casually chic look on the beach.

Josie Maran Argan Oil: Too much sun can dry out your skin and so you want to keep your skin moisturized without becoming greasy. This oil instantly sinks into the skin and creates a nice base for your waterproof makeup.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer SPF 15: This is a great primer which helps make all makeup last longer. Also it has SPF protection without being greasy. I used to not like primers, but now that I've found this one, I wear it everyday. It helps foundation last longer and helps spread the color more evenly.

Hourglass Veil Fluid Makeup Oil Free SPF 15: Although this foundation isn't marketed as waterproof, it didn't rub off even when I went snorkeling. It really lasts for a long time and gives a sheer wash of color to your face which just makes your skin look perfect and even without looking like you've got a lot of makeup on or that you're trying too hard.

Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer: This stuff really works, it helps mask any redness and also works great as an undereye concealer.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Splashes! Waterproof Mascara: This is the only natural, cruelty-free waterproof mascara that I found, and it actually works. I went swimming in waterfalls with this on and it didn't smudge once.

Benefit Cosmetics Benetint: This tint kind of has a cult following and for good reason. It's a great cheek and lip stain that stays on for hours, plus it looks completely natural and is completely natural.

General Tip: For waterproof makeup always look for water based formulas, they are less likely to slide off from the heat and humidity and won't clog your pores.
